what is the best way to grind my coffee?

more grin, less grind.

using a burr grinder will give you a more uniform grind. for automatic machines, target a medium-coarse grind. for pour-overs, target a medium grind that can make a cup in about 4 mins; if it takes too long, adjust grind to be more coarse. for French press, the grind should be coarse enough that the plunger falls easily with the weight of your arm. percolators also like a very course grind.

how much caffeine is in my coffee?

all of our coffee contains caffeine.

coffee's an agricultural product that varies from season to season, and as such there are always slight variations when it comes to caffeine content. not only that, your brew method, grind quantity, and water temperature each play a factor in the amount of caffeine that hits your cup. for those sensitive to caffeine.

in general, the darker the roast, the lower the caffeine content.

how should I store my coffee?

all of our coffees (ground, whole bean, happy pods and instant) are best kept at room temperature out of direct sunlight. once a cube of whole bean is opened, do your best to consume it within 2 - 4 weeks. once opening a cube of ground coffee, best consumed in 1 - 2 weeks (although our in-house happy coffee guy swears he can taste a difference in 5 days)

what is the best brewing method for happy™ ground coffee?

happy ground coffee has a medium grind and is best used for automatic drip, pour over or percolator methods. feel free to use it in other methods, but it might be better to purchase our whole bean variety and grind them to your specifications.

what is the nutritional content of coffee?

the caloric content of black coffee is negligible, somewhere around 5 calories; a level low enough not to break one's intermittent fasting.  coffee does not contain significant amounts of carbohydrates, protein or fat.

which roast should I choose?

if you drink coffee black, you might prefer our light roast for its bright, smooth finish. if you are adding cream and/or sugar, you might like our medium roast which is chocolatey, smooth or our dark roast which is rich and bold with cocoa notes.

how should I brew my coffee?

for automatic drip, we recommend using 2 leveled tablespoons of happy™ ground coffee to every 6 oz. of water. for pour over, try ratios in the 1:15 to 1:18 range. if you are using a French press or percolator, we recommend our whole bean coffee as it can be customized to a coarser grind. a good place to start with French press is 3 tablespoons of ground coffee for every 8 oz. of water. when brewing light pods in your machine, we find the 12 ounce setting to be some easy drinking (8 ounce works best when adding creamer). our medium pods rock the chocolate at 8 ounces. and dark is an eye-opener at 8 ounces (also works best at 8oz when adding creamer).

is your coffee Kosher?

our coffee is not certified Kosher

how long is your coffee good for?

with proper storage, unopened, all our products taste best prior to their expiration date (look for it, it's on the outside package somewhere). after that date, flavor starts fade. once a cube of whole beans is opened, do your best to consume it within 2 - 4 weeks. once opening a cube of ground coffee, best consumed in 1 - 2 weeks (although our in-house happy coffee guy swears he can taste a difference in 5 days).

how many cups of coffee can be brewed per pack of ground or whole bean coffee?

this may vary depending on how strong you like your coffee, but a typical 1:16 ratio of ground coffee to water would give you 32 cups (8 oz.) of coffee.

will the happy pods™ work in my Keurig®?

sustainability + recyclability

why Rainforest Alliance and Raíz Sustainability Verified®?

both programs offer unique benefits that we felt were important. to learn more about each program, please visit our coffee section.

why plastic containers instead of bags?

traditional coffee bags are not recyclable or compostable.

we wanted a solution that was recyclable, reusable, refillable, resealable...and that look amazing.

are your coffee pods recyclable?

in order to recycle the coffee pods, peel off the lid, empty out the grounds and recycle the plastic container according to your local recycling guidelines.

our paper packaging made with Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) recycled paper and is fully recyclable.

is your plastic packaging recyclable?

absolutely! please find recycling specifics on every pack.

to recycle the whole bean and ground containers, secure the lid and recycle with your plastic.

to recycle the instant containers, remove the label, secure the lid and recycle with your plastic.
