How to Brew
What's the ideal coffee-to-water ratio?
Standard is 1-2 tablespoons of ground coffee per 6 oz of water. Adjust to taste — more grounds for stronger, fewer for milder.
Which brewing method makes the most caffeine?
Cold brew concentrate (150-200 mg per 8 oz), then French press or percolator (110-180 mg), then drip and pour-over (95-130 mg), then Aeropress (90-130 mg). Espresso is concentrated but small (60-80 mg per 1 oz shot). See our complete caffeine reference.
How should I store ground coffee?
Store in an airtight container at room temperature, away from heat, light, and moisture. Avoid the fridge or freezer — temperature swings cause condensation that dulls flavor. Use within 4 weeks of opening for peak taste.
Ground coffee vs. whole bean — what's the difference?
Same beans, different form. Ground coffee is convenient — no grinder needed, brew immediately. Whole bean stays fresher longer and lets you match grind size to your brew method for maximum flavor. If you already own a grinder, whole bean wins. If not, ground coffee is one less step.
Why Happy Ground Coffee?

Frequently Asked Questions
How much caffeine is in Happy ground coffee?
Roughly 95-165 mg per 8 oz brewed cup, depending on roast and brewing method. Light roast at 95-120 mg, medium at 110-140 mg, dark at 120-165 mg.
Are Happy ground coffees organic?
Our ground coffees are responsibly sourced and 100% arabica. Specific organic certifications vary by product — check individual product packaging for details.
Are flavored coffees made with artificial flavors?
No. All flavored coffees use natural flavors only. No artificial flavors, no artificial sweeteners.
Does light roast or dark roast have more caffeine?
By weight, light and dark roasts are essentially equal. By volume (a scoop or tablespoon), light roast has slightly more because the beans are denser. The difference is small — roughly 10% more per cup.
